What is seen at a distance is the southern border of the city of New Plymouth NZ. The chimney of the power station is visible, which is a land mark. The mount next to the chimney is called Paritutu Island. If you click on it you can see more details such as some cows grazing at a distance, vineyards on the front left and grass paddocks of a typical New Zealand scene

There is no photographic value in this photo, but to demonstrate the depth of field.

This rose is about 4.5" in diameter. As the aperture is of the medium range it is in satisfactory focus.

Pom-pom flower Shooting data: shutter 1/2000 f=3.5 ISO=400 As the aperture is wide at 3.5, only part of the flower is in focus. Shooting data: shutter 1/90, f=40, ISO=800 As the aperture is small the whole flower is in focus. Had to increase the sensitivity of the CCD to ISO 800 to increase the clarity of the photo.
